To quote the movie office space, "Michael Bolton: That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life......Samir: Yes, this is horrible, this idea."

People used to text on phones like this over 10 years ago, the blackberry was to die for back then in great part because of a full qwerty keyboard. Going ...

There are easier ways to delete associated wi-fi networks than the command line.

As for the whole mess, many wi-fi devices will stop attempting to connect to networks they don't have a password for. As for reconnecting once the security is removed, you have to re-establish the intent to connect to ...

I'm no expert but from what I've gathered the URC-7960 is a unique remote and a recent addition to the remotes we play with here.

From what I've read thus far, you should try the newest release of RMIR instead of IR with this remote. And while the cable can go in two ways, only one is the proper ...

I don't think I can offer much help as I've never worked with the parallel cable and the older JP1 remotes but right off the bat I can tell you those i/o addresses are not the standard parallel port addresses. LPT1 = 0x3BC-0x3BF, LPT2 = 0x378-0x37F, and LPT3 = 0x278-0x27F. Either reconfiguring your ...

You can use the lookup tool to find the EFC table for either of those two setup codes.

You can also browse the file section for a device upgrade file for your dish receiver. After which you load it into RM, customize it to your remote and button preference (match buttons to functions), save it ...

In all the digital and analog (ATSC/NTSC) TV's I've encountered it was a simple measure of changing the channel up/down or dialing in the specific channel. For example 20 or 20.0 would be analog while 20.1, 20.2, 20.3 etc etc would be digital stations of channel "20". I would assume your sony works ...

Because IR doesn't work through walls and in most cases the 2nd tuner will be running a TV in a separate distance room in the house.

Dishnet's solution for a person like you is a HD DVR

5 people all in one living room watching the same TV with each having their own remote that controls a menu driven system....dunno about you but that just screams chaos to me.

There are 5 people who live there, but I wouldn't have 5 remotes. However, I would put out 2 or 3 remotes so that there ...

In my world you only need one remote. Everyone can watch the TV but not everyone needs to have a remote in their hands. In ...

This is a very interesting thought but not exactly a new one. The whole input selection to the tv has been done with HT receivers for years now and the whole ir/receiver issues commands to the devices is something that has been done on bose theater systems and perhaps others (bose rf remote sends tv ...

I got new batteries to try, I needed them anyways since the remote was starting to display low battery issues, after putting them in all issues are resolved.

Good ideas there but the only one that I can try is the fresh batteries (need to pick some up) as my 6-pin connector doesn't have a lead going to pin 5. Along those lines I'm thinking I should maybe try grounding pin 5 but I'm gonna try some fresh batteries first.

Killer, is this a serial or USB interface, and did you make it yourself or buy it (and if so, from where?)
Back again eh, it's a serial interface. The schematic is tommy's jp1.x serial interface design using 2n3904 transistors, 1n914 diodes (both 2n2222 transistors and 1n4001 diodes were tried ...
