OK hauling this one out of the catacombs. The 2117 remains my favorite remote--having progressed from the 1994 through the 1995 I just like the layout. Even with my Pana Plasma 60 and Yamaha Home Theater I'm still able to control pretty much everything with just this one remote--customized out with ...

Well the UR's won't learn the codes. Part of the problem with those two keys is figuring out what they do in theory, let alone in the real world. Near as I can tell they don't do anything. Even if I wanted to just stick in codes looking for them---I'd never know when I'd hit them.

From my reading ...

Yeah I just got one of those Time-Warner Remotes as well. I was vaguely tempted to hack around with it and see what I could conjure up. Instead I just re-tweaked my 15-2117 to handle pretty much everything it does for the Cablebox/DVR. I don't like the layout and innards of it enough to spend the ...

That's the key I'm calling "options" in my EFC setup
EFC 201. As I recall it has the function of "search" depending on the context in which it's pushed.

You'll have to excuse my slowness. I used to be moderately active here. I have USED JP1 continuously for years, but every time I decide to do some ...

Oh yeah sorry,
Misunderstood the question.

There is definitely no setup code for my rat shack 15-2117 that fires those signals.

no Upgrade Protocol needed, just a Device code.

This is for a 15-2117 as vcr-2000
Nec2; Dev 234; Sub Dev 194

Upgrade Code 0 = 17 DA (VCR/2010) keymap-master Device Upgrade (KM v9.22)
5A 00 AA 1E ED 21 A8 BC 00 01 2D B5 00 00 00 00

End

I guess I ...

I'm finding the Nec2; Dev 234, Sub Dev 194 EFC codes I posted work fine with no protocol upgrade and no double OBC.

The new ROKU 2XS remote will not generate signals that a learning remote can read. These remotes also have limited capability as gaming remotes (i.e., they send information regarding ...

Thanks 3F,
I just picked up this tip in another thread--Jetstar posted the solution a year ago! The Delcom USB drivers aren't needed with the JP1.2/1.3 Flash USB cable. When I plugged it in, it automatically loaded the Prolific USB-Serial drivers and assigned a Com port. It was good to go at that ...

I ran into the same problem. Telling IR that I was using a JP1.x interface fixed it for me. Yup! That's the solution. The Delcom USB drivers aren't needed.

BTW: I just bought the Digabyte combo, 8 months later, and still nothing is keyed. For $48.00 they could be a little more 'thoughtful'. The ...

I wish I had read more about Tommy's products before buying the DIYGadget JP1.2/1.3 (FLASH) USB Cable & their JP1.2/1.3 to JP1 Adapter. They were a little pricey to begin awith nd I haven't gotten their stuff to work. The UBS Flash loads as intended--as a com port but I can't get IR to see the ...

There's also the poor man's fix, which is to just superglue aluminum tin foil to the bottom on the buttons. Yup that's the route I go when 2B pencil lead just isn't cutting it anymore. It seems like it should be a pretty permanent fix, but I've found that with years old buttons, they don't take all ...

Well the Sony Remote arrived today.
The allusive code
Sony 15;144 OBC 104

Should I have been able to stumble upon it without resorting to buying the remote itself!? I dunno:
I had been looking for it in a Sony20 protos. For that matter OBC 104 within Sony 15;144 isn't really ID'ed as ANYTHING in ...

Well wait a minute :-)
OBC automatically selects the device byte in the double hex code. The actual HEX produced for OBC 128 is the same as for 000, 129 the same 001 and so on... Y'all are trying to convince me I've turned senile in the year or two I've been away! :-)

Well I was already using the Plug 'n Power to remotely control lights and appliances before I even heard of JP1. When I did find it --was like finding home.

As a phenomenon JP1 is at least as important in my opinion for it's utilization of the WWW to bring together folks with a common interest to ...
