Never mind, I think I've worked around the problem.

I'm just continuing to use the urc-2025 rdf. It appears that the extra keys on this remote show up as phantomX keys. I can't assign keys using the graphical picture, but luckily there is another tab in the upgrade editor where the keys can be ...

Atlas 1056 shows up as urc-2035

Hi - I bought an Atlas 1056 from Ebay (says 1056B04) on the back. If I go into remotemaster, I can find this remote as "Atlas OCAP URC-1056 JP1.3 (Black)".
I think they're pretty common (at least I see them everywhere).

However when I go into rmir and download from device, it shows up as signature ...

Just an update...
I got the JP1 remote working and then tried sending all of the OBC codes to the dongle, and the dongle does indeed only recognize the codes that are on the original remote.

I have enough keys to do everything I need for now (media playing etc). For future expansion of functions, I ...

Thanks for the help. The links provided gave me a much better understanding.

I was wondering why nobody else was having the same problem, and you guys seemed pretty sure that the learned codes should have all the required information. Well it turns out that the rest of the world is not crazy, it's ...

How to Modify Keys to Autorepeat?

Hello - I'm really wearing out my welcome, but here goes...

I have learned a bunch of remotes and now want to take the learned signals and upgrade the 10820 remote with them.

The problem is that several of the keys on the original remotes will repeat when held down (such as volume). In order to ...

Thanks MaskedMan - you must also ride a white horse. Your silver bullet worked.

I'll have to do some digging on these advanced codes. I recall seeing the term, but I don't recall a lot of info on it. It does sound significant. That is, equally as important as learning or JP1. It may already be ...

Those responses were quick - thanks.

Yes, I had tried the 993 before. Actually, before I programmed anything, I tried to get X10 working, and the on/off (vol) button did not work at that point.

Subsequently, I did lock the volume to my amp, and unlocked it for the CD (x10). This is verified by ...

urc-10820 + urc-3000 x10 on off buttons

Hi - I just got a urc-10820 remote and I want to see if I can do as much as possible before needing to hack it with JP1.

I am not having luck making it work with the ofa urc-3000 ir receiver. I am using code 0167 and I can only get the dim (+-chan), all-off, and numerical keys to work. That is, I ...

When I got the remote, I played around to see what it was sending.

I checked the events that it was sending to X, and it was as you described. For example, ctrl-g was produced just as if you typed it on a keyboard:
ctrl press
g press
ctrl release
g release

I even checked the scancodes and it was ...

You're right, it is not using LIRC. I actually wanted to stay away from LIRC as it seems a little too obscure, especially when it comes to finding hardware.

I thought I'd try the MCE remote route, by purchasing a cheap knockoff MCE remote from China. When the dongle is plugged into the USB port ...

Thanks, I'll jump into JP1 and give it a try.

The reason I ask is that there are a few keys on the existing remote that I don't want to remap in Linux, because they also get remapped on the real keyboard as well.

That is, most of the buttons on the remote generate keystrokes like ctrl-g or ctrl-f ...

Can MCE Codes be Extended?

Hi - Newbie here.

I purchased a cheap Ebay MCE knockoff USB remote and connected it to my Ubuntu box and it magically worked. The computer sees the device as a keyboard and receives keys as though they were typed on a regular QWERTY keyboard.

Of course, the remote only sends a set of about 20 key ...
