After reviewing this string of posts, I spent some time trying to figure out if this could be the holy grail to my frustrations (remote only works now and then on my dishnetwork 510 reciever).
I am hoping that the fix works, and the reason I can't get it to, is my lack of understanding ...

I guess your trouble was not so "odd". I am trying to do the very thing (PIP with Dishnetwork's 510 & 301 Recievers). I am hopeful you can lead me in the right direction...
