Re: A few issues on returning to JP1
The seller accepted that the remote was faulty so I returned for another which seems to work OK.

Re: Any suppliers of JP1.x cables which fit a URC-7555?
OK it seems like one of the pins wasn't properly located in the connector and would slide out under minimum pressure.
I tried rotating and re-inserting and eventually it locked into place.
Many thanks to all.

Re: Manual Programming How To Quick Reference (9xx commands)
I was referring to something like this:
Copy one key to another 994
1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
2. TAP 9 - 9 - 4.
3. TAP the "from" DEVICE button (eg, TV)
4. TAP the "from" regular button (eg, VOL+)
5. TAP the "to" DEVICE button (eg, VCR)

What do you do if the remote has no device keys, such as the URC-1210?

Bricked a URC-6440, any way out?
I pulled the USB cable out while it was uploading and now it is as dead as the dodo.
I spent a couple of hours searching the forum and a lot of the answers suggested replacing the settings.bin file.
However when I connect the remote to the PC the usb disk which contains the settings.bin file is ...

Re: Any suppliers of JP1.x cables which fit a URC-7555?
Well I bought a pack which included the 3x2 format ones.
What a fiddly job that was! Prising up a plastic flap with one hand, pulling on the wire with the other hand and pulling back on the connector with the other other hand....

Re: A few issues on returning to JP1
Hmm, the 1 button works when TV is selected but not when VCR is selected, so it seems not.

You just beat me to it!
It's possible they won't fit the aperture in the case but for £7 it's worth the risk.

Re: A few issues on returning to JP1
I am starting to think that the remote I just bought is faulty or broken in some way.
If I enter Magic-9-8-0 then I get the single flash then double flash when I hold down Magic, then when I enter the 980 I get no flash with the 9 and a single flash with the 8 then the 0, and that's that. No blink ...

Re: A few issues on returning to JP1
The old and "new" remotes do indeed have different text on the label stuck to the battery cover. One says "URC 11-7555 R00" and the other says "URC 11-7555 B00". I didn't keep track of which is which. Does this mean I can't upload from and download from the other?

Any suppliers of JP1.x cables which fit a URC-7555?
I used to use a Tommy Tyler cable for years since the connector fits through the hole in the remote case. When that failed I switched to what I have now, with six separate pin connectors held together with black insulating tape. It's a mess.

A few issues on returning to JP1
I have been using a URC-7555 and 7556 for years and recently bought an as-new 7555 from eBay to replace one which was wearing out. I have found that the device keys tend to fail first, some of mine you need 5 or 6 presses to get them to register.
I tried to clone the old remote to the new. I ...

Migrating from Windows to Linux
I have a URC-7555, URC-7556 and a URC-6440 and I have been using RemoteMaster for many years to get them to do what I want. All under Windows.
Now I would like to start using Linux on my main PC - I am trialling Mint.
