JP1 Remotes

I'm just a simple physician. All this protocol stuff is killing me. Is there any simple, complete explanation for what I need to do for my particular situation that you know of?

I have a SlingBox PRO and am trying to control a Dish ViP622. Although the unit is perfectly controlled by its own IR remote, the SlingPlayer 622 codes will not control anything, but the mute button.
