Apex AD600A DVD Player

The Apex AD600A is one of a new breed of DVD players that can play both PAL and NTSC formatted discs and convert them to whatever format you need. These players also have secret functions that allow you to change, or even bypass, the region encoding and also defeat Macrovision, the copy protection scheme that prevents you from running the DVD player through your VCR.

Older Apex AD600A units have the famous "loopholes" menu which allows you to set the unit to bypass the region code and permanently disable Macrovision. Newer units have had this menu removed but if have access to an EPROM burner and are handy with a soldering iron, you can modify these newer players to use the old loopholes menu, see here.

If you wish to use a universal remote with the Apex, almost all "One For All" (OFA) and "Radio Shack" brand remotes can be programmed to control the Apex. This is because the Apex uses the same remote signal as older Goldstar TV's. The buttons will need to be programmed manually, so I have created a step by step guide to help you get the remote set up, see below.
